First, we do an analysis of your needs (usually through casual conversation over a cup of joe), then together we isolate each individual need and create a strategy to address it, and finally we put those strategies in place through investments, insurance coverage, debt consolidation/reduction, tax planning, and discipline.
Not everyone has the time, interest, or commitment to become an expert in finances. That's why you need a GOOD financial planner on your side because they have the knowledge and experience to give/create strategies that you probably wouldn't think of yourself.
The average investment, insurance, or mortgage product may not be suitable for everyone which is why it's important to have an expert help you find the perfect solution.
The most important quality of a good financial planner is that they ALWAYS look out for your best interests.
I work on a fee-free platform - that means that I don't charge any fees directly to the client. There are no charges for meetings, statements, time researching your accounts, office supplies, etc.
The way I get paid is by "trailer-fee" which is compensation I receive on a regular basis from the investment and insurance companies I work with. That trailer-fee I receive is part of the management fee they have on their investments products.
Fee-for-service planners exist and they are becoming more popular as regulations change, but I plan to offer my service this way as long as possible because it is easier for your average person to afford, and it helps build a long-term, and honest relationship.
